LOCH FYNE CREATES DREAM JOB FOR SEAFOOD LOVERS

Giles Codd, marketing manager at Loch Fyne Seafood & Grill, on the restaurant’s latest campaign to find a ‘chief taster’.

Loch Fyne Seafood & Grill, on Walton Street in Jericho, is on the hunt for a ‘chief taster’ to help trial its new dishes and ensure the restaurant serves only the most delicious food.

The chief taster will work with our chefs as they develop new dishes, and flavour combinations using influences from the company’s Scottish heritage as well as global influences and ingredients.

I know what you must be thinking: “There’s something fishy about this job – it seems too good to be true!”

But we really are looking for an amateur ‘seafoodie’ to be the voice of the public, providing feedback on new recipe ideas.

The successful candidate will be taken on an all-expenses paid trip to Loch Fyne in Scotland, where they will enjoy some of the amazing shellfish and seafood, which comes fresh from the Loch and is served at our Oxford restaurant.

They will also be invited to attend four tastings throughout the year to feedback on dishes from the new menus.

So what is in it for Loch Fyne? Why would we do this? I hear you ask.

As a restaurant we can see it’s more important than ever to engage with and listen to our diners.

Loch Fyne produces new seasonal menus throughout the year, with our new Autumn/Winter menu soon to be released and a new breakfast menu launched last month.

We want someone who could help us perfect each and every one of these menus.

With the rise of social media, we want to introduce Loch Fyne to new younger diners, as well as reconnecting with people who, for whatever reason, have not visited for a while.

So we hope to find a chief taster who can assist us in spreading the word about Loch Fyne.

If you became chief taster, you would be required to write, video blog and post on social media to share your thoughts on current and forthcoming dishes.

The job advert, which can be found on our website, reads: “Are you mad about monkfish, crazy for crayfish and a total looney for langoustines? Do you fancy yourself as the next Jay Rayner or Deliciously Ella?”

It goes on: “Loch Fyne Seafood & Grill is looking for a "Chief Taster" to ensure we serve our guests only the most mouth-watering dishes. As the voice of the people, you will be an enthusiastic amateur foodie with talented taste-buds and a passion for seafood.”

To apply for the role, all you need to do is produce a short video blog explaining why you should be Loch Fyne’s new chief taster.

A shortlist of six will then be invited to create a second video review after doing a tasting of the new Autumn/Winter menu. The successful candidate will then be chosen.
