Soho House has not only opened Soho Farmhouse in Great Tew but also Soho Farmshop or just Farmshop at Bicester Village.
They have a menu of uncomplicated healthy food available throughout the day and lovely service.
Afternoon Tea is served between 4-6pm. I took my daughter, and we were really impressed with the interior; all chunky timber planks and beams, creating a rustic and charming venue.
There is an attractive outdoor terrace on the first floor but as it was a tad chilly that afternoon we chose the cushioned seating inside.
I had Afternoon Tea which comes with two fruit scones served on a white and blue enamel plate with the clotted cream and pip free jam, served in little green pots. Tea was served in a blue tea pot and matching cup and saucer.
I chose English Breakfast tea, but they had a choice of the usual favourites and the milk comes in a pleasing mini milk bottle.
The scones were a good size and were tasty – crunchy on the outside, with a good texture and a nice amount of fruit inside.
My daughter had an Oreo milkshake served in a stainless steel cup, which was yummy but a bit light on the Oreos, (unlike the ones we make at home!) and a slice of carrot cake which was very tasty and moist with a good creamy topping.
My bill came to £16.88, which was fine but it included a 12.5 per-cent service charge, which seems rather unnecessary for tea, and not something I’ve come across before.
Farmshop does however offer a more relaxed way to enjoy teatime, if that’s what you prefer.
