Starting Up with Jeremy Rawlinson @ Deliveroo

My name is Jeremy Rawlinson, and I work for a company that’s just launched an exciting yet simple concept in Oxford, designed to revolutionise the dining scene.

It does this by delivering quality food from local restaurants direct to people’s front doors.

Deliveroo is already live in London, Brighton and Manchester.

Overall I have been with Deliveroo for just over three months as the marketing launch manager, and it’s been a hugely exciting time.

I was appointed to lead the Oxford launch and, following months of careful planning, market research and a delicious ‘trialling’ process, we’ve launched with a selection of Oxford’s favourite restaurants which now offer home delivery for the very first time.

Selecting the Oxford restaurants to come on board and join the delivery world was great fun. Eating out in a handful of Oxford’s top restaurants, picking and choosing who we thought would be perfect for Deliveroo was a delicious process. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my time.

Eventually we agreed to work with a handful of tasty eateries including GBK, Noodle Nation and Branca.

My role has also seen me spending time with restaurateurs and locals to discuss the foodie culture and dining trends in Oxford.

Our research revealed that the food delivery sector was limited, with a lack of restaurant options and lengthy waiting times for those opting for delivery.

This provided the perfect opportunity for Deliveroo to swoop in. I guess that you could say the people of Oxford were hungry for it.

And as Deliveroo offers dishes that you wouldn’t necessarily associate with delivery, this makes the service ever more interesting. You can order salads, traditional Italian pasta dishes and noodle soups – the perfect excuse to stay out of the kitchen, no matter what you fancy eating.

The Oxford arm of Deliveroo opened with a restaurant roster including Mission Burrito, GBK, Branca, Café Coco, The Rusty Bicycle, La Cucina and Noodle Nation, with others listed on the Deliveroo website.

To ensure food arrives piping hot, all menu items are transported to homes and offices across the city via a fleet of Deliveroo drivers, taking the shortest and quickest routes, ensuring food arrives speedily and on the dot in just under 32 minutes.

Using Deliveroo is simple. Locals enter a postcode and a preferred time slot and then the website lists every local establishment offering food within the delivery zone.

Customers can also schedule orders up to one day in advance or receive food ASAP.

Deliveroo is currently operating within the city centre, Summertown, Jericho, Oxford Brookes campus, John Radcliffe Hospital area, Cowley Road and Iffley Road, and has plans to expand across the wider city in the future.

It’s a new way to dine on quality food, without the hassle of cooking.

You can even eat in your pyjamas if the mood takes you!
