Brunch with @FoodOfTheOx - Zappi's Bike Cafe, Oxford

Zappi’s Bike Cafe on St Michael’s Street is home to Zappi’s cycling team and appropriately sits above Bike Zone (a bike shop) meaning that cycling is very much on the agenda here.

It’s also the location of some of the best artisan coffee in Oxford.

The coffee is crafted with love and served with style using the Zappi’s house blend, but they also regularly ‘guest’ coffees from around the country to give punters an experience that doesn't just stop with their own stuff and adds value to the whole experience.

I arrived on a Sunday morning already knowing I could expect excellent coffee having heard good things, so my next focus was what to pair with my drink.

Zappi’s food menu is simple but effective and I went for a croissant (£1.20) and a flat white (£2.30) but there are also toasties such as the classic cheese, ham and tomato (£3) and cakes like the legendary banana bread (£2) which are available for consumption alongside other coffees like a cappuccino (£2.30).

One of the nice things about Zappi’s is that although it’s a popular venue it still retains something special. Going upstairs above the bike shop transports you to a relaxing setting where you can unwind and enjoy a brunch away from the busy streets of the city; even when Zappi’s cycling team have returned from their latest adventure to reboot their energy (can you blame them?).

My croissant was delicious by the way and my superb flat white gave me just what I needed.
