TEN years on, much loved Forno Vivo Pizzas returns to Wallingford.

In 2004, the town boasted one of the county’s finest Italian pizzerias – the popular Forno Vivo based in the town’s Old Post Office.

The restaurant was so successful that eventually the owner, Peter Borg-Neal, received an offer for the building he couldn’t refuse – but promised that one day he would bring back his handcrafted traditionally baked pizzas to Wallingford.

Four years later, Peter bought the building back, now one of Wallingford’s most popular venues.

However, many Old Post Office regulars kept asking for the return of their favourite pizzas and now Peter’s company, Oakman Inns, has closed The OPO for 10 days, to install a new wood-burning pizza oven, reinstating the much-loved Forno Vivo pizza.

A team of expert designers and craftsmen will also be on the £400,000 refurbishment.

Just as predicted, those plotting boys at Jacobs & Field, Damian and Jonny, have revealed themselves as the names behind the takeover of The Woodstock Arms in Woodstock which has now closed for a full refurb. And if their Wolvercote pub Jacobs Inn, Headington restaurant Jacobs Chophouse or even their café/deli Jacobs & Field is anything to go by, the results will shake the Georgian town up a bit.
