* It’s been a cracking week in The Good Pub Guide.

The Porch House at Stow-on-the-Wold was awarded the prestigious New Pub of the Year 2016; County Dining Pub of the Year 2016 went to The Pointer at Brill, where head chef Mini Patel and his team are committed to serving fantastic, seasonal British food, utilising produce from The Pointer’s own farm and butchery.

And The Kingham Plough near Chipping Norton, run by celebrity chef Emily Watkins, pictured, has won the County Pub of the Year 2016.

Fiona Stapley, editor of The Good Pub Guide, said The Kingham Plough was a natural choice as a winner, adding: “The food that Emily Watkins cooks at the Plough in Kingham is inventive and exciting, and the pub deserves to be Oxfordshire Dining Pub of the Year.”
