* Meaty restaurant Cleaver in George Street has closed down just 13 months after opening in December 2013. Cleaver spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We would like to thank all of our loyal guests who have dined at Cleaver. From time to time we review our overall operation and have made the decision to close Cleaver.”

* Vegans & Violets is hosting a gourmet event at Brookes Restaurant, Oxford, on Tuesday, February 24; an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in a vegan diet.

Enjoy four courses of seasonal vegan and raw food in the company of a guest speaker to discuss the health and environmental benefits of the vegan diet. The event starts at 7pm. * The Cookery School at Daylesford is hosting two special events: A Valentine’s Day Getaway – a Champagne breakfast, The Hay Barn Spa Bamford Signature Treatment, a stroll around the organic farm shop, Bamford Barn and Garden Room, with a £100 voucher to spend. In the afternoon you cook and eat together, enjoying a three-course menu using seasonal produce from the garden and farm. The day finishes with a leisurely tour of the organic market garden together with some handmade chocolates to take home. £550 per couple. * The new Krispy Kreme store at the Clarendon Centre has got off to a sweet start with more than 9,000 fans visiting to taste its doughnuts since it opened on December 9. More than 6,500 single doughnuts were served in its first month alone, with the Original Glazed and Chocolate Dreamcake coming out as Oxford’s favourite.

* Bella Italia on George Street has launched its brand new Shot Desserts range, all at under 300 calories per pot, pictured.
