* Don’t say I don’t spoil you because while Oxford may be quiet this week, it’s bubbling with new restaurant openings and news.

First up is Jamie’s Italian Pizzeria which will open its doors on September 1, serving beautiful, oven-baked pizza in the basement of the current Jamie’s Italian Oxford restaurant.

Situated downstairs on Gloucester Street, it will have its own front door, and offer a concise menu to keep the ‘pizza to plate’ time to a minimum.

Using dough freshly made on-site every day, expect everything from the Margherita to the Oxford Hot (a Margherita topped with fennel salami, Napoli forte salami, fresh chillies and wild oregano), or the more unusual White Rocket with mozzarella, Westcombe Cheddar, ricotta and rocket.

For puds its the classic gelato or homemade tiramisù plus some classic Italian cocktails Although the new pizzeria shares the same building, Jamie’s is insisting that it will operate independently while maintaining the same standards, friendly service and quality we have come to expect.

Jamie’s Italian Pizzeria opens on September 1 every evening from 5-11pm and all day Saturday and Sunday from 12pm, but shuts at 8pm on Sunday. See jamieoliver.com

* Oxford has got a brand spanking new cocktail bar which opened this week with my name on it. A coffee bar by day and cocktail bar by night, a team of baristas and mixologists respectively, will be plying you with their wares in St Clements.

Joseph Perks & Co will also be serving Big Apple hotdogs and have a busy events calendar of live music and supper clubs including a monthly Peruvian cerviche style evening.

Based in the former Duke of Edinburgh pub, a five-month refurb is now completed and the results ready for you all to see.

Run by three partners including two Oxford boys Tom and Nick, the trio this will be the first of many Joe Perks & Co that will unroll over the next few years, although the team already run a very successful cocktail events company.

Joseph Perks & Co is at 76 St Clements Street, Oxford

* Thirdly The Duke’s Cut in Park End Street is under new ownership and has closed for a massive refurb.

What’s in store remains to be seen, but the classic Oxford stalwart pub, perched beside water, is due to reopen in September.

We wait with bated breath.

* Don’t forget it’s Deddington Farmers’ Market on Saturday where Paul Barlow-Heal of Cotswold Baking will be demonstrating how to make a fraisier with raspberries at 11am, alongside the 50 regular stalls of award-winning produce.
