We’ve had a really good week and have come to several milestones – Daddy heard baby’s heart beat for the first time using a special monitor and he felt him move. Baby’s not just moving lots more which I feel all the time, I can actually see him move too now! With some of the bigger movements, my tummy has little tremors. It’s very strange to see but really lovely to know that it’s actually our baby making them. I had the laptop resting on my tummy which he obviously didn’t approve as he gave it a big jolt. It’s a great bonding experience as it really feels like it’s a little person in there who is now able to communicate with us.
Listening to the baby is always a heart warming experience, sounds a bit like you’re on a submarine though! Baby’s heart beat is much faster than ours so you hear that and then suddenly it sounds like someone is scratching a record and that’s the sound of the baby moving. Ours really is a little fidget!!
I actually got the chance to socialise normally on Saturday night at a friend’s leaving do. Although everyone was very merry, I didn’t actually feel sober and could actually be daft with everyone else. I even stayed out to 1 o’clock!! OK so I missed out on the post-pub house party, had to skip going out on Friday night and ensure that I got lots of rest on Saturday but I really enjoyed myself. I did feel very smug getting up on Sunday morning bright eyed and bushy tailed knowing how terrible they were all going to be feeling – I remember the days!!
It was lovely to see how interested and supportive all my friends are in my big bump. Everyone had loads of questions which I was happy to answer and it’s lovely to know how pleased all my friends are for us. There aren’t that many of my friends who have had children yet – I’m from a social group of party animals – so it’s lovely to get my friends involved!
