Now, I am not necessarily one for being organised but I have realised this week that it is time to plan for this baby of mine.
After all, before we know it the schools will be back after the summer holidays and then there will only be a few short weeks before the arrival of the impending child.
So, I decided to start my spring pre-birth cleaning with my car. I am attached to my car, she may be just a slightly battered red R reg Ford Escort to many, but to me Porsche (her name) signifies independence, loud music, bad singing and somewhere for many of friends to have small nervous breakdowns.
My car is also home to a selection of random and interesting items, and it has been pointed out to me that I will need to make space for a travel system-apparently this is quite large and won’t fit on the back seat with an electric fence-the item currently occupying this space.
The clearing of the car proved to be more than a five minute job, and during this mammoth operation I discovered the following items: some personal items (can’t say what because my Nan reads this) three pregnancy test kits (I think I might have been in denial!), my friend’s Year 9 progress report which states quite clearly that she should have done her homework), seven pairs of shoes, a horse’s bridle, a pound (kept that for chocolate) and lots of rubbish, enough to fill a wheelie bin. I even went to huge efforts to hoover the back seat (ready for the travel system installation), but my dog Bassett decided to jump in and have a sleep. He’s still there.
This was quite a liberating and cleansing experience, and set me up for the day as I did all this at 7am. Is this normal? I hope not as I like a lie in and plan to get as many in as I can before the baby comes along.
The planning for the baby will now extend to my bedroom and the rest of the house, but it seems that some of my closest friends are even more organised and this week I have learned that Ruby already has two ponies-Twinkle and Dolly. Really hoping that she is going to like ponies because otherwise that could be a bit inconvenient.
