36 weeks - just!

Well no sooner have I updated my blog for the last week, finally finished the decorating, got the house in order, and my waters break a month early!

It's the morning of Thursday 31st July and I'm trying to motivate myself to get up and I feel a little pop... I'm pretty sure I know what it is and get up, yes, definitely my waters! Call husband who heads straight home from work - he's in London so eager to get a move on!

My parents come over to take me to the JR - I've called them and they've asked me to come in in about an hour; I make time for a shower and breakfast, and husband gets to the hospital before us before I want tea and toast before we leave - I'm going to need my energy I reckon!

We get to the JR and get hooked up, monitored, blood pressure and temperature done, baby is happy and I'm 1cm dilated, no contractions as yet.

I'm allowed home which is great - I was busy enjoying the last month of my pregnancy, I want to use these last few hours to get ready for being a mummy!

We get home and make snacks for the rest of the day, and chill out on the sofa. By 3pm I'm having contractions - I can handle this I think, no pain relief for me!

We head back to the hospital at 4.30pm and get settled with magazines and drinks in the delivery suite until they decide if I'll go to a ward for a bit.

No time for that though, contractions start coming thick and fast by about 6pm, still coping - just - walking up and down and having my back rubbed alot.

Midwives including a student are lovely and really calming, husband is doing a great job too and I feel relaxed.

More to come soon on the second part of our adventure into parenthood - this next bit wasn't quite as relaxing and I realise that the experience may not be as zen and pain free as I'd hoped!
