This week I’m 21 weeks and I had my scan. I last had my scan when I was 14 weeks and to see the changes in baby is incredible – he has grown so much.
He looks like a proper baby now and not just an alien!! The sonographer had a really good look around to make sure all is well. It’s amazing when you see the heart beating, the spine, his hand punching, legs kicking and I think the cutest thing was seeing his feet close up, perfectly formed – quite incredible.
Everything looks completely in order and I’m relived to know that the baby is an average size despite me having a big bump!
It was standing room only as my parents and partner came along. It was lovely that my parents could travel up to be there and I loved being able to make them more of a part of this pregnancy. Both were fascinated. It’s incredible and a real wave of emotion. I thought I might get weepy but I didn’t – I was just in awe of this baby on the screen that is actually mine and inside me. Next time I see him will be in the flesh!!
This was my opportunity to find out what sex it is. Of course I am extremely curious but I didn’t ask. It really doesn’t matter what sex it is and it really doesn’t make much difference besides, there’s not a lot I can do about it now!
This scan was the last part of the process to check and ensure that all is well with baby. Now I can sit back and enjoy this journey through the rest of my pregnancy.
Although still a long way to go, I feel I’m on the home stretch. Time’s beginning to accelerate like everyone said it would. It’s strange at work as they’re beginning to interview people to cover my maternity leave. I want to cherish every moment of this pregnancy as I’m loving every minute of it (OK so perhaps not the middle of the night loo visits!). I would recommend pregnancy to everyone!
