Half way point

By Sonya »

Today we celebrated - we're half way as I'm 20 weeks! Very exciting!

The baby is the size of a honeydew melon... and I'm the size of a house!! I can feel baby moving now and it feels like I'm being tickled from the inside.

It's a very lovely feeling to know that I'm always in company and the baby shares all my senses and moods. Nothing makes me grin and smile more than knowing that it will lift the baby's spirits too!

I have a new addiction - baby grows!

Although not even born yet, our baby has a bigger wardrobe than me! I've 11 new born baby grows and 15 0-3 month size! Ridiculous I know! I hasten to add that they were bargains, 2nd hand .... or simply to cute to resist!

This is all before I know what sex it is! I know that once it's here, I won't be able to resist buying dresses or trouser suits! After a stressful day at work, I used to buy myself a bottle of wine, now buying a baby outfit has the same effect!

I'm not the only one with an addiction - so has my mother! She's a great knitter and so far she's made 31 jumpers or matinee jackets!

Mum now has calluses on her fingers from knitting so much! She gets twitchy when she's not knitting or crocheting! She knits so fast I swear I can see smoke coming off her needles!

My 89 year old grandmother also has her needles out and has made some gorgeous outfits. This baby is going to have to have umpteen costume changes a day!

I've been good in other areas and saved a packet by buying second hand bits. I saved £200 on a very fancy, 4 month old pram/travel system, I got a good quality changing unit for £30 and on Ebay I have just won a £300 gliding nursing chair and footstool for £83 so I'm extremely chuffed about that.

You see, I can justify buying so many clothes now!

I have also really enjoyed having to buy a whole new maternity wardrobe for me!

Recently every morning I've had to cut a label off something I was wearing for the first time that day.

As I have only found 2 shops in Oxford that sell maternity clothes, I have enjoyed not having to trawl around all the shops or feeling obliged to rummage around in the sales.

This whole baby business can get expensive but it is the best retail therapy I've ever experienced!
