Well, we’re now into week 16 or, as I’d rather say, at the start of the fifth month. Nearly half-way through - hooray!
I have been shopping for my new underwear to accommodate my swelling bits and pieces. Note, I said underwear – this is not lingerie shopping. Lingerie shopping involves a nice, leisurely time browsing through frothy, possibly frilly, but always pretty loveliness.
Shopping for maternity underwear is pretty straight-forward because there’s not too great a choice, and the items involved are examples of civil engineering in cotton and elastane – this sort of underwear does not give a “come hither” vibe.
I’m sure I’ll be glad of the support, etc, but to balance the utilitarian nature of their construction can’t they be in pretty fabrics or a striking mix of colours, like, black with contrasting pink trim instead of plain black, plain white or plain beige or vile florals that wouldn’t look out of place as curtains in a caravan from 1962.
Never mind – I’ll just have to widen the search, there must be some gorgeous maternity underwear out there...
I suppose I’ve started the “nesting” instinct. My husband and I have started redesigning almost every room at home and we’ve chosen a couple of low-VOC paints. I can’t imagine a better time to do it when I can’t lift anything, I get tired very quickly and my fuse grows shorter by the day. Excellent timing!
