Gangsters take over Abingdon school hall

PUPILS at Larkmead School in Abingdon have been getting splattered during their production of musical gangster show Bugsy Malone this week.

The show is based on the movie by director Alan Parker, which was filmed in 1976 with Jodie Foster starring as singer Tallulah.

Bugsy Malone, set in 1920s’ New York, features rival gangs who, rather than using traditional machine guns, attack each other with custard pies and splurge guns, with much of the action taking place in Fat Sam’s Grand Slam – a speakeasy where drink, singing and girls are plentiful.

The cast are stage tonight at 7.30pm in the school’s main hall, with the final performance taking place tomorrow.

Tickets for the show are on priced £6 for adults, and £4 for concessions, and can be bought from Sue Munday on 01235 544860.
