Matthew Cox, of St Birinus, Didcot, gives girlfriend Beth Sandland, from Didcot Girls’ School, a celebration kiss
MATTHEW Cox and girlfriend Beth Sandland shared a celebratory kiss after opening their exam results together.
Matthew, 16, of Newlands Avenue, Didcot, picked up his results first at St Birinus School and then went to Didcot Girls’ School so that he could open his exam envelope at the same time as Beth.
Both pupils got top results and celebrated last night with a trip to Jamie’s Italian restaurant in Oxford and a party in Didcot.
Matthew said: “I got six A* grades and five A grades while Beth got four A* grades and seven A grades.
“We both had worries about not doing so well in certain subjects so we agreed beforehand that we would open our results together.”
Beth added: “It was a nice gesture for Matthew to wait until we had both picked up our results and it took the pressure off both of us.
“We are both really happy with the results we have got.”
The couple, who have been dating for two years, are now planning to take A-Levels. Matthew added: “I will be going to The Downs School in Compton, near Newbury, while Beth is going to Cokethorpe School in West Oxfordshire — we both fancied changing schools.”
