Info session for planned free school

Campaigners who hope to open a new skills-based free school in South Oxford, will hold information sessions for parents at city shops.

Oxford New School representatives will be at Sainsbury’s in Heyford Hill from 3-5pm today, and at the Westgate Shopping Centre from 10am-1pm on Saturday.

Did anyone see them?

Hi Thinkingoutloud

Yes- we saw lots of people - but not sure how many of them will see your question.

In the 2 hours we were there over 50 parents to signed to support our vision and proposal.

There were some really interesting conversations and lots of understanding about why we are doing this.

It would be great to see you at Westgate on Saturday - and perhaps we could have a fuller, more reasoned discussion than is possible in these tiny boxes. Not expecting to convince you - but would be open to your views - and hope you will come with the same spirit.

Thanks for your continued interest

Well although I fundamenetaly do not agree with Free Schools - I do admire your continued determination. I bet there are lots of existing schools who would welcome your enthusiasm to help them. Have you thought of becoming a school governor?

Thanks for the invite - I'll try and get through the crowds around your display on Saturday and have a look .

I expect you need a big building and grounds -Where will the school be?

Thanks ; )
I have a history of being actively involved in schools and am working with local schools as is appropriate.

Might be easiest to talk in person.

As to location - until we get passed this first stage, we are not naming specific sites (not least to prevent landowners adding Zeros to the value of the sites/land they own!)
But again, happy to talk.

See you tomorrow maybe

Christ, I hope she won't be doing any teaching! Free schools don't need qualified teachers and those that set them up can prioritise their own children above others to attend so I wouldn't be surprised!
