A FORMER deputy headteacher of John Mason School in Abingdon has been found guilty of ‘unacceptable professional conduct’ by the General Teaching Council.

Despina Pavlou used school money to buy champagne, wine, a wooden shed and a business class flight to Australia, when she was a headteacher of Lord Grey School in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, the GTC ruled.

The GTC panel also judged she had spoken and behaved inappropriately to pupils and staff, after hearing evidence that she “bullied and harassed” people at the school.

Ms Pavlou has now been banned from taking up future headteacher or deputy head teacher positions.

She worked at the Abingdon comprehensive before she took up her post in Bletchley in September 2000.

Amazing she does exactly what all our MP's did and are still doing i.e using money that isn't theirs, she looses her job, they get a new and improved expenses scheme.

Thing is, George, she had no way of justifying it whereas the MPs can con us into thinking it's necesary to do the job.

She should have to pay back all the money. Narrow escape for JMS!

If this was business she would face court and possibly prison. I'm troubled she hasn't been struck off from teaching. As for JMS having a narrow escape maybe the school finances did, how about the damage she did to students during her time?

Shame about the money she has used and glad she isn't in a head teacher position now or in the future. But how about banning her from teaching for bullying. Who wants there kids being taught by a bully? I have experienced her teaching first hand at JMS and wouldn't have her teach my kids.

I was fortunate not to experience her teaching. It just goes to show the damage teachers can do and I am thankful that my boys missed her tenure.
