A SCHOOL which teaches children with severe learning difficulties has been rated outstanding for a second time with an inspector describing it as ‘fantastic’.
Frank Wise School, in Hornbeam Close, Banbury, received Ofsted’s highest ranking following an inspection last month.
The school, which has 101 pupils, received outstanding ratings across the board, with everything from children’s progress to their behaviour praised.
In her report, Helen Barter described the school as “outstanding and inspirational”.
Headteacher Sean O’Sullivan said staff and pupils were thrilled with the result.
He said: “It’s very much a team effort. We have got fantastic bunch of staff, brilliant supportive parents and fabulous students.”
Mr O’Sullivan was deputy head during the last inspection in October 2006 when the school was also rated outstanding.
Ms Barter said: “All pupils make exceptional progress right from the early years foundation stage, where children get the best possible start to school, through to the new sixth form, which prepares students very well for the future.”
The school was also praised for first class leadership and management.
Ms Barter also singled out pupils’ “tremendous enjoyment” of the school and pointed out many pupils and staff battled to get to school during the heavy snowfalls at the beginning of January.
A letter from Ms Barter to pupils read: “You told us that your school is ‘fantastic’. We agree!”
