A FAMOUS British motoring name has had its Oxfordshire foundations strengthened further.

Gama Cars, based in Banbury, has acquired the Cropredy Bridge Garage from owner Bob Cherry, meaning both the production and resale of restored and re-engineered Jensen cars will come together under one roof at Cropredy.

Cropredy Bridge has been restoring all Jensen cars since it was founded in 1972, even before the original company collapsed in 1976, and Mr Cherry will continue as a consultant.

Backed by Thame-based Jensen International Automotive, Gama relaunched the Interceptor R model in the UK a year ago.

Gama managing director Matt Watts said: “We already had a close relationship with Cropredy Bridge Garage, because of the workshop’s facilities and skilled staff.

“When the opportunity arose, it made sense to incorporate it into the business.”
