A company which has doubled in size in the last two years is set for more major growth after landing a multi-million pound contract.
Terrafirma Roadways based in Abingdon has sealed a three-year deal to provide temporary roadway services to the Electricity Alliance, a group of companies brought together to upgrade and develop the electricity transmission network across England and Wales.
The contract, worth about £1.8m a year, will see Terrafirma supply its Dura-Base composite plastic mat system which forms temporary roadways for contractors, to the companies.
Managing director Hugh Robertson said demand for the system had soared in the last year and the company has doubled its workforce to 20.
Now he anticipates taking on another six staff after landing the contract.
Mr Robertson said: “ This is a major stepping stone for the company. The contract is a very positive endorsement of the Dura-Base system.
“We’re looking forward to continuing our investment in people and equipment to ensure Terrafirma delivers an exceptional service to Electricity Alliance”.
