No ban for guilty dentist

A dentist has been found guilty of serious professional misconduct, but will be allowed to continue working at his Oxford surgery.

Hamid Mozneb, who works at the Manor Dental Surgery in Osler Road, Headington, escaped a ban at the General Dental Council Committee hearing on November 21, but must return in September to prove his skills have improved.

Committee chairman John Chopesaid Mozneb's conduct had fallen far short of the standard the public and dental profession expect. He told him: "The committe has been very concerned about a number of issues, in particular your poor performance in the areas of diagnosis, treatment planning, consent, record keeping and dental radiography."

Mozneb, of Osler Road, admitted failing to provide adequate treatment to four patients at Marston Dental Practice between November 1997 and March 2000, but denied serious professional misconduct. He gave patients crowns when their teeth were still diseased, failed to treat infections and provided inadequate root fillings.

Four patients told of the poor treatment they had received from him.
