Lloyd Brock was quick to praise his fellow bowlers after spearheading Great & Little Tew towards Lord’s.

The seamer claimed competition best figures of 5-16 as Tew restricted hosts Dinton to just 120 in the Davidstow Village Cup semi-final to set up a nine-wicket win.

But while Brock’s salvo ensured a sorry day for the hosts, he said the strength of their attack made the difference in the semi-final as it had done throughout the competition.

“We thought on this pitch that 150-160 would be a good score,” he said.

“If we could keep them below that we would be pleased.

“The ball started to swing early on and it was good to get some early wickets.

“They were behind the eight-ball and then our spinners came on.

“They bowled really well and Dinton were up against it.

“All our bowlers played their part.”

Brock added: “We left out some good players today who have bowled well for us, including my brother, Lawrence.

“But the guys that missed out have been really supportive. That has been the key to our success.”
