CHRIS Webb took an all-roach bag on hemp and tares on the pole to win Littlemore AS’s R Arnatt Cup with 19lb 4.0oz on the Thames at Sandford.
It was the first match of the new river season at the venue and there were some good roach weights among the 19 anglers.
Pete Clarke opted for the waggler with hemp and tares and also returned a good net of redfins for 13.12.0, followed by Andy Webb with a bag of roach on the waggler with hemp and tares for 11.12.0.
The seventh round of the FTB Oxford Carp League was switched to Tunnel Barn in Warwickshire due to low oxygen levels at Rissington, and the 16 competitors found the canal pool in terrific form.
Richard Strange drew the corner peg and fished the pole long down the edge and over to the island to take carp to 8lb using for a winning 108.0.0.
Andy Benwell (FTB) was second with 104.6.0 of mainly F1’s with the odd carp on paste, using just the top kit, while third place went to Craig Partridge with 102.12.0 of F1’s and barbel on maggot over groundbait.
Yarnton & District AC were on the Thames at Yarnton Meadow for their latest match.
Jason Jones picked up his first win of the season, weighing in 13.13.0, consisting of a big bream, two perch for 4.7.0 and a good net of silvers, all caught on chopped worm and caster.
Ernie Smith was second with 8.13.0, a mixed bag which included a good bream on maggot. Seven fished.
Beehive AC fished their FA & UEFA Cup quarter-finals at Panshill where 1,000lb hit the scales from the 14 fishing.
Dave Wilson led them home with 168.0.0 of carp to corn and pellet, followed by Kevin Jeacock with 106.0.0 carp to pole and paste, and Bob Alder with 80.0.0 to pole and pellet.
