A DISCO shed in East Oxford has come top of its category in the national Shed of the Year competition.
The shed, which is equipped with turntables, lights and a smoke machine, was named as the best ‘normal’ shed after a public vote.
It is owned by Paddy Bickerton and Aidan Larkin, who take it to music festivals around the country.
Mr Bickerton said: “We’re really pleased. It’s great we’ve won the audience award – it’s nice to be popular.”
The groovin’ shack was up against a diner shed, a wartime Blitz museum and an outhouse inspired by the Titanic in the Channel 4 programme Amazing Spaces: Shed of the Year, presented by George Clarke, which aired on Thursday.
The overall Shed of the Year competition was won by an allotment shed in North London.
Mr Bickerton – who DJs under the name Peepshow Paddy – said that the duo may not enter the competition again.
He said: “It’s a fairly niche competition, I don’t know whether they’ll want to film the same sheds again next year. But maybe, who knows?”
