BANBURY MAGISTRATES

  1. Sophia Matthews, 46, of Brook Hill, Woodstock, admitted drink-driving on the A41 at Bicester on May 9. Had 73 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath over the 35mg legal limit. Fined £250 and ordered to pay a £25 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 20 months.
  2. Marcin Murawski, 29, of Withycombe Drive, Banbury, admitted stealing £62.95 worth of food from Tesco Extra in Banbury on May 23. Given 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  3. Robert Warne, 40, of no fixed address, admitted harassing the subject of a restraining order by telephone at Boxhedge Road, Banbury, on May 19. Fined £100 and ordered to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge.
  4. Connor Ross, 21, of Buckingham Crescent, Bicester, admitted possessing cannabis, a Class B drug, at Bicester on April 3. Fined £100 and ordered to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  5. Rhys Southall, 22, of Stroud Close, Banbury, admitted assaulting a woman by beating her at the Wheatsheaf pub in George Street, Banbury, on March 16. Given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to have alcohol treatment for 12 months. Restraining order made against the victim, and ordered to pay a £60 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  6. Barrington Washbourne, 30, of Windrush Close, Bicester, admitted assaulting a woman by beating her and damaging a light fitting, a Sky remote control and a hoodie of unknown value at an address in Bicester on April 25. Also admitted possessing cannabis, a Class B drug, with intent to supply and supplying it in Villiers Road, Bicester, on March 20, and causing criminal damage to a phone and television set at a house in Bicester on May 5. Given a community order requiring a five-day education training course and given a six-month supervision requirement. Ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.
  7. Stephanie Blake, 36, of East End, North Leigh, Witney, admitted stealing beauty products worth £130.55 from Michael & Company in Kidlington on January 17 and £152.70 worth on January 21. Fined £60 and ordered to pay £283.25 compensation, a £20 victims’ surcharge and £35 costs.
  8. Robert Moore, 51, of Castle Street, Marsh Gibbon, near Bicester, admitted drink-driving in Station Road, Marsh Gibbon, on May 23. Had 83 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath over the 35mg legal limit. Fined £375 and ordered to pay a £38 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 18 months.
  9. Connor Pugh, 20, of Heather Close, Carterton, admitted drink-driving in Witney Road, Curbridge, on May 25. Had 63mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath over the 35mg legal limit. Fined £150 and ordered to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 17 months.
  10. Laurence Smith, 20, of Church Lane, Shutford, near Banbury, admitted using threatening words or behaviour at Horse Fair, Banbury, on May 24. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  11. Steven Jackson, 29, of Broughton Road, Banbury, admitted stealing chocolate worth £11.76 from Sainsbury’s in Pioneer Square, Bure Place, Bicester, and resisting a police constable in the execution of their duty in Sheep Street, Bicester, on February 11. Fined £350 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  12. Michael Meadows, 22, of Cromwell Road, Banbury, admitted stealing food worth £33.34 from Poundstretcher in Calthorpe Street, Banbury, on May 27. Also admitted committing a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge made by Banbury Magistrates’ Court on May 2 for theft. Fined £75 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge.
  13. Kirk Mortimer, 26, of Quarry Road, Chadlington, Chipping Norton, admitted possessing cannabis, a Class B drug, in Chipping Norton, on March 3. Fined £120 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  14. Lisa Terry, 40, of Mackley Close, Deddington, near Banbury, admitted stealing men’s clothing worth £141.50 from Marks & Spencer in Bridge Street, Banbury, on April 23. Also admitted failing to surrender to the custody of Banbury Magistrates’ Court on May 30. Fined £150 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  15. Adam Bennett, 31, of no fixed address, admitted stealing sandwiches from a One Stop Shop in Banbury on April 8 and failing to surrender to the custody of Banbury Magistrates’ Court on May 12. Given a 14-day prison sentence because he was on bail for other matters at the time.
  16. Jake Orwa, 21, of Orchard Way, Banbury, admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress in George Street, Banbury, on May 26. Fined £35 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £45 costs.
  17. Jamie Pagett, 30, of Field Gardens, Steventon, near Abingdon, admitted assault by beating in Market Square, Witney, on March 16. Given a 20-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months because it was an unprovoked attack, injuries were caused and he has a previous history of violent offences. Told to pay £225 compensation and an £80 victims’ surcharge.
  18. Joseph Santos, 26, of West Street, Banbury, admitted possessing heroin, a Class A drug, at Banbury Police Station, in Warwick Road, Banbury, on March 30. Fined £110 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £45 costs.
  19. Paul Wyeth, 33, of Shackleton Close, Bicester, admitted causing criminal damage worth £102 to a window in High Street, Banbury, on March 1; entering a building as a trespasser and stealing hair products worth £75 from a shop in White Lion Walk, Banbury, on March 5; entering a building as a trespasser and stealing various products from a shop in Market Place, Bicester, on March 3; stealing a drill box and accessories worth £119 from Robert Dyas in High Street, Banbury, on March 2; and making off without paying for £44.61 worth of petrol from a filling station in London Road, Bicester, on March 26. Community order made with 100-hour unpaid work requirement and told to pay £387.61 compensation and a £60 victims’ surcharge.
  20. Daniel Hanwell, 21, of no fixed address, admitted stealing DVDs worth £69 from Castle Quay shopping centre in Banbury on January 13. Also admitted failing to answer bail at Banbury Magistrates’ Court on May 28. Fined £100 and ordered to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge.
  21. Oliver Aldridge, 19, of Brookside Court, Woodstock, admitted possessing 28g of cannabis, a Class B drug, with intent to supply at home on February 19. Given a 26-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work in the next year. Ordered to pay an £80 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
