A 'DRUNK' woman who feared she was fed drugs before waking up in a stranger's room was discovered roaming the streets crying, a court has been told.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, alleges defendant Changqing Shao raped her in his Oxford student halls after meeting at nightclub The Bridge.

In her interview with police, she said she woke up in Shao's bed in his student accommodation, spotting her cash, lipstick and cloakroom ticket flung on the floor.

But Oxford Crown Court yesterday heard she could remember little of her time with friends at the Hythe Bridge Street club or leaving with Shao hours before.

The woman told police: "I did not know where I was. I wasn't even sure I was in Oxford. [I was] very scared, increasingly scared as I could not remember anything."

A jury of six men and six women heard the alleged victim tell police she soon realised she left her bag containing insulin to manage her diabetes at the nightclub.

She then described running from accommodation after noticing her socks and underwear were not on correctly.

The court heard the woman bumped into a 'concerned' man walking his dog along Cowley Road, who escorted her to his home before police arrived.

Prosecutor Alan Gardner told the court Shao's DNA was discovered on the woman's clothing.

Shao initially told officers he invited the woman back to his home after she forgot where she lived, sleeping on a chair while she was in his bed.

But the 21-year-old, of Collins Street, Oxford, later told police the pair had consensual sex, Mr Gardner said.

Shao, who was assisted in the dock by a Mandarin interpreter, denies raping the woman on October 18 last year.

Shao was later acquitted of rape.
