A clutch of Oxford's best artists are coming together for a lively night of music - curated by the Oxford Mail.

The Dreaming Spires, Knights of Mentis and Oli Steadman of folk-pop stars Stornoway play the Autumn Jamboree at the Jericho Tavern on October 25.

The night will see The Dreaming Spires - fronted by Truck and Wood festival founders Robin and Joe Bennett - launching their new EP, Darkest Before the Dawn.

Helping to organise the night is Stuart Macbeth, frontman of the Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band. He said: "This promises to be one of the best nights of music to take place in Oxford all year. It features three amazing acts - with some delicious special guests thrown in for good measure.

"We are delighted to be hosting The Dreaming Spires for their EP launch. The band are hugely respected for their gorgeous tunes and virtuoso musicianship. The Knights of Mentis are the ultimate party band, and we are also thrilled to have Oli Steadman - who as part of Stornoway is used to playing venues many times bigger than the lovely, intimate Jericho Tavern.

"Don't miss out!

THE DREAMING SPIRES

The Dreaming Spires launch their new EP Darkest Before the Dawn - their first release since 2011's Brothers in Brooklyn "(described by Q magazine as "the best country-rock debut since Big Star".) Fresh from an appearance on Bob Harris BBC Radio 2 show, their set will include old favourites and new tracks from their hotly tipped new LP, due for release in 2015.

The show will feature very special guests - and is also the farewell performance of legendary drummer Jamie Dawson, about to emigrate to California.

KNIGHTS OF MENTIS

Live favourites Knights of Mentis are a nine piece band featuring accordion, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, double bass and a host of other old world instruments. They play a distinct and flavoursome brew of Americana, country, folk, and roots music - and are not to be missed.

OLI STEADMAN

The night also hosts a rare solo show by multi-instrumentalist Oli Steadman, member of Stornoway and Count Drachma - and one of the brightest talents on the Oxford Music Scene.

Between acts there will be a fine selection of Old Time country music and feel-good bluegrass to keep your toes tapping.
