FEWER than 10 per cent of voters turned out for the Carfax ward by-election last night.
In total 380 people voted, which gave a turnout of 8.6 per cent and Labour held the city council seat.
The seat was won by former Oxford City Council leader Alex Hollingsworth, who won with 168 votes.
Mr Hollingsworth has replaced Labour councillor Anne-Marie Canning who stood down in July citing personal reasons.
Liberal Democrat candidate and former city councillor Tony Brett came second with 101 votes.

Green Party: Richard John Scrase 63
UKIP: Kenrick Simon George Bird 24
Conservative: Maryam Ahmed 24
