The first 20mph limit in Didcot was agreed yesterday, following the death of a 10-year-old boy in a road accident.

Freddie Perry died in September last year while trying to cross Oxford Crescent.

His father, Lea Perry, said he was overwhelmed by the council’s decision to approve the new limit and a road hump crossing in the street.

David Nimmo Smith, cabinet member for transport, also granted permission for a new crossing outside Windmill Primary School in Margaret Road, Headington, a pedestrian crossing on the A417 at Stanford in the Vale to accompany a new housing development on Faringdon Road and six parking spaces on Iffley Road near the junction with Stanley Road will now be de-restricted after 6.30pm and available for non-residents.
