City’s weekend breaks among most expensive

First published in News

A weekend break in the city will set a couple back about £256 – more than most other UK cities – according to research by TripAdvisor.

The survey compared the cost of two people having a one-night stay in a four-star hotel in August, plus a pre-meal cocktail, a meal out and a short taxi ride in 20 cities across the UK.

Oxford came 17th, with just London, Cambridge and Edinburgh costing more in the survey.

Sheffield was the cheapest city surveyed, with a weekend away costing £154.

TripAdvisor spokesman James Kay said: “For travellers planning a UK break over the upcoming bank holiday weekend, heading north will generally offer the best value for an evening out and overnight stay.”

Please let me explain, I post on many Newsquest newspaper websites and it is rare to find someone who does the same, there are many "pro-pot" people who do it, not many "anti-pot" who do it.
Obviously I search for Cannabis stories or any NHS stories to comment on, what floats your boat Lord Palmerstone?

Good question. You'd have to read some of my other comments and I am sure you have better things to do, so I'll just say that I try to give the liberal view , in the face of the authoritarian left and that this post was just a wee joke.
I'm not planning to stay in Oxford unless they have a decent council and I fear hell will freeze over before that happens.

When I pasted that it made steam come out of this machine and all the valves and diodes became red hot, so I'd better stick to my true metier. The ones that infuriate are those who say if only the State would regulate all "legal highs" (and illegal ones, I suppose) then little Jayden would have known how much drain cleaner to consume and not be a cloud above the crematorium.
But then the State decided to make Tramadol a Class C lately. I had some prescribed for a pain in the leg, took a couple and gave up. If young people really get some excitement from abusing stuff like that then I'm really too far out of touch to have an opinion (but it'll not stop me)
