ONE swallow doesn’t make a summer, but these two made the shot of a lifetime for wildlife photographer George Reszeter.
In a year when he has found it hard to spot swallows, the former Oxford Mail staff photographer came across this adult feeding its chick at Besselsleigh, near Abingdon.
The 60-year-old said: “I was just going into Tesco when I saw them on a telephone line and I went to grab my camera. I’ve been photographing wildlife for 25 or 30 years and I’ve never managed to get a photo of anything like this before. I’m really quite chuffed.”
Adult swallows feed their young for about a week or two after they hatch until they are old enough to go and find their own food.
Mr Reszeter said: “The adults go virtually down the throats of the young birds, it’s remarkable.
“I was very surprised to catch them because I’ve seen very few swallows around Oxfordshire this year, never mind them doing something like this.
“It’s very unusual to say the least.
“Wildlife photography is my real passion and this has been a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.”
