JAMES Salter likes to bring some sweet sunshine to his corner of Oxford’s Jericho.

After running Cowboymod Emporium in Walton Street for 19 years, he’s still as much in love with his neighbourhood as ever.

On sunny days when he isn’t hairdressing, selling boutique guitars, taking photographs or doing a little interior designing, the multi-talented Mr Salter likes nothing better than plucking a little guitar on the front porch.

The father-of-one said: “I started hairdressing in Jericho 33 years ago, and I believe it is still a community.

“Someone has just created a little community garden across from the Albion Beatnik where you can have picnics.

“I love the fact that people will get together for a good cause. If something nice happens, people will get behind it.”

On Wednesday afternoon, Mr Salter, who recently turned 50, was playing his ultra-rare acoustic Rickenbacker guitar and singing some of his own material.
