BUSINESSES in Headington could be awarded up to £15,000 for eco-friendly transport projects on their property.
Oxfordshire County Council wants to hear pitches for schemes to reduce congestion in the area. The money comes from a £5m pot set aside by the Department for Transport, given to the county council in 2011.
To apply for the money, organisations need to show “a commitment to matching the grant”.
The council said that means surveying employees and promoting greener ways of getting to work, such as cycling or the bus.
Deputy director of strategy Peter Lerner said: “The grant funding can help with shower facilities or safe bike storage. If businesses support their employees to travel in a more sustainable way, we all benefit from less pollution and less congestion.”
The deadline for applications is Friday, August 1.
