A THOUSAND hobbyists descended on the Abingdon Model Railway Show on Saturday.
The event, in its 38th year, was at White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre, Audlett Drive.
On display was Michael Watts’ model of Salz railway station in the Austrian Alps.
Dr Watts, 72, of Tackley, has been creating models for exhibition for 30 years and has displayed them at more than 220 shows.
He said: “People very much enjoy the model. The track is below eye level and it is well lit.
“The wonderful thing about European trains is they are so colourful.”
Organiser Mike Ryder said: “We get lots of different poeple, of different ages attending.
“One of the interesting things about it now is how technology can be used in model railways and computers can be used to control them.”
