THE mayor of Wantage has told residents that the town council is working to get community cash from the developers of a 1,500-home estate.
Town council leader Fiona Roper said the council had been meeting with the developer, Lands Improvement Holdings, to secure money for local groups under Section 106 of the 1990 Town and Planning Act.
Mrs Roper said: “Everyone should benefit from a big development like this.”
The application to build the homes north of Charlton is due to be discussed in public at a Vale of White Horse planning committee on February 20.
