A MEMBER of staff at McColls newsagents in Burford Road, Carterton, was last night threatened with a handgun during a robbery. 

At around 10pm, a man walked into the newsagents and threatened the employee before making off with a quantity of cash towards Upavon Way. 

He is described as white and was wearing dark clothing.

Investigating officer, Det Sgt Chris Whitwell of Force CID based at Banbury, said: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, saw anything suspicious in the area, or has any knowledge of the offence to contact police immediately via 101.

“If you don't want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court."
