Hundreds in tribute to Janee

THEY drank tea from china cups with pinky fingers raised to toast the memory of Janee Parsons at her memorial service.

For an American-born girl whose heart belonged to England, it was just what she would have wanted.

More than 400 mourners packed into Emmanuel Church in Lucerne Avenue, Bicester, yesterday to celebrate the life of the beautician who was found dead at home with stab wounds in December.

Poems from friends, colleagues and family were read out through choked back tears.

Children from Bicester’s Bure Park School choir performed Hambanaye and You Raise Me Up in memory of a woman who spent much of her free time helping out at the school.

It was revealed that Mrs Parsons, 31, had recently become a British citizen prior to her death, and was said to have loved every aspect of UK life from the countryside to Shakespeare and afternoon tea.

Her sons Max, three, and Owen, five, were the focus of many tributes.

• Mrs Parsons’s husband Andrew Parsons, 38, has been charged with her murder. He is due to enter a plea to the charge on Monday at Oxford Crown Court.
